Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K-12

Even in this age of videos and computers, books are still one of the best ways to pursue an interest in science. The Children's Science Book Fair: Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K-12 presents approximately 40 new science trade books each year for children in kindergarten through grade 12. The books are selected by a committee of educators and librarians appointed by the National Science Teachers Association in cooperation with The Children's Book Council, Inc. This popular exhibition has been traveled by ASTC for over 20 years.

Exhibit topics include biography, astronomy, paleontology, environmental science, health and medicine, physics, and technology. The books are evaluated for content, accuracy, readability, and pleasing format. Book subjects range from picture books for the very young to in-depth scientific discussions enhanced by photographs, diagrams, and glossaries. In past years, this book collection has served as the foundation of a number of science education events across the country.
