Primary responsibilities include:
Work in collaboration with both the informal and formal education teams to plan, implement, and evaluate informal education products and programs.

In partnership with formal educators, develop and implement educational extensions to OPO’s ViewSpace self-updating astronomy display service for museums and planetariums. Such extensions can include educator guides, standards-based activities that are coordinated with ViewSpace content, and other novel ways to enhance the educational value and impact of ViewSpace.

Develop and implement educational exhibits and programs, along with educator guides and other supplemental materials and activities to accompany them.

Develop and implement professional development opportunities for educators, exhibit designers and program producers, enabling them to benefit from direct links to science expertise based at STScI.

Represent STScI at informal education conferences and within the NASA informal education infrastructure.

GENERAL PURPOSE: At the Springs Preserve, assist with the development and coordination of educational programs to meet the needs and interests of adults and students of various ages and educational backgrounds; assist with outreach activities; participate in promoting active educational partnerships; conduct educational programs and interpretive tours; gather and maintain information to track participation and assess results.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in museum studies, cultural studies, education, environmental studies, communications or a closely related field and one year of paid or volunteer experience related to educational programs for a formal or informal educational institution, museum, cultural, or public attraction venue; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The ideal candidate will possess curriculum development and presentation experience/skills within venues/organizations similar to the Springs Preserve.

ASTC is looking for an ambitious professional with experience in managing multiple partnerships, who has an interest in climate change, and is able to serve as a Project Manager for a new grant-funded US wide program on this topic.

The Project Manager will assist the Director of International Relations in the oversight and coordination of this 3-year grant-funded program (Communicating Climate Change) aimed at implementing new strategies to communicate climate change to diverse audiences visiting science centers. This includes communication responsibilities for the ASTC International Action on Global Warming (IGLO) project.

1. Support and assist department director in implementation and daily management of the project including interaction with 17 collaborative partners-media institutions, science centers, Universities and other informal science education institutions.
2. Work with partners to identify goals and deliverables.
3. Create files and manage archives
4. Collect materials for publication and reporting.
5. Provide administrative and logistical support for external meetings and workshops; transcribe meeting minutes when needed.
6. Decipher and edit project C3 materials for distribution to the informal science education field and other relevant audiences.
7. Assist participants in use of ASTC online tools for forums and management.

IGLO/ Other Project Responsibilities:
1. Edit, produce, and disseminate IGLO e-newsletter via email.
2. Write, edit and post project related information on the web site (blog format).
3. Assist in writing department-related correspondence, articles, funding letters, etc.

Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree plus at least two years project management experience
